Reality Bites
What a difference a day makes! The recent occurrences in the UK are giving many of us food for thought. The machinations of egoistic politicians resembles something out of a John Grisham novel revealing a smoke and mirrors story line. The world appears to have gone slightly mad, with headless chickens running wild and not really knowing what to do.
The main thing that has had people up in arms is the mass of lies, deception and the act of wool pulling over the eyes of so many who had no idea what is actually going on and the ramifications of the outcome. The stooping to low levels by those who have the power to make life changing decisions affecting so many people, is unacceptable. Democracy is important and vital to humanity but what is the point if it can be abused and no-one can be held to account for creating frenzy and mayhem?
Now is a good time to stop to reflect and consider what is actually happening around us and what indeed we can learn from these historical events. True enough, what I have found is a coming together and a meeting of minds on many levels. Feelings have been running high and words have been said, but trying to be pragmatic can be difficult if there is no compromise and no respect for individual opinion. Reactions whether good or bad are usually fuelled by fear, the unknown, and a sense of uncertainties in a time when we should be building bridges and not burning them.
Moving forward is what we must now do and as I have always said on many occasions, think positive, think practical, surround yourself with people that value your opinion and care about what you have to say too. But also, buyers beware, don't accept everything that everyone tells you to be the truth. Yes, it is important to follow your heart but on equal footing, it is important to follow you head. Stand up for what you believe in and making a difference should continue to be paramount but do it with dignity.
My message is this: "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a new door". Make it happen!
