Steve Jobs, the charismatic founder and head of Apple Computer, died yesterday at the age of 56 of a rare form of pancreatic cancer. His contribution to the computer industry has been outstanding, making computers, phones and other technological devices cool and desirable as lifestyle accessories.

Steve Jobs fought cancer twice. Below is the address he gave to Stanford University in 2005 after having won the first round. He went on to give six more exciting years to the world, bequeathing to it as his legacy the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad and leaving other companies the unenviable task of playing catch-up.

This witty and moving address is inspirational, first as a strategy for dealing with life, then as one for dealing with death. Steve Jobs is a tragic loss to the world.
