Having spent hours on trains travelling between the borders of Italy to the ends of the Côte D'Azur one finds absolute stimulation in snuggling up in a secluded corner with a good book. This extraordinary adventure of a Diplomats wife left me personally inspired and sure of one thing in life. I could never marry a Diplomat. However, my personal view bares no importance whilst reading the absolutely beautiful and invigorating tales of tragedy and many triumphs, it left me feeling humble and quite coy of the wonderful surroundings around me.

When Brigid Keenan married a diplomat, she had little idea of the rollercoaster journey they would share, with most things going awry while being obliged to keep the straightest face. She has written an engaging memoir of juggling career and family life in the world's furthest outposts.

What drives a woman to go to such lengths for her man? Is it just love? Is it the desire for exploration and adventure? Or is it hell? I want to hear of some of your travelling experiences!
