The Prestigious Italian conductor and composer Gianluigi Gelmetti has been confirmed as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte-Carlo (OPCM).

Gianluigi Gelmetti with Paul Masseron (Monaco’s Minister of Interior) and his wife Odile Masseron

A year ago HSH Princess Caroline,  President of the OPCM had appointed Gelmetti as interim conductor following the death of Yakov Kreisberg. He studied conducting with Franco Ferrara, Segiu Celibidache and Hans Swarowsky, and first conducted an orchestra in Siena at age 16. Gelmetti has a long career as conductor and music director to many orchestras around the world, and his appointment brings the needed stability to this big symphonic Orchestra that has stood the test of time for more than 150 years, and brings a successful outlook for its future development.
