Theatrical Dance group “Exemplary Crimes” with dancers of the Monte-Carlo Ballet

April 29th was International Dance Day that was introduced back in 1982 by the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a UNESCO Partner NGO. It was to commemorate the birthday of Jean Georges Noverre (1727-1810), creator of modern ballet and author of the famous « Letters on Dance ».

The goal is to celebrate dance as a universal art form across political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together through a common language.  In Monaco this special date was celebrated with the show « The Rhythm of Life » by Nicholas Albert Khan and the group « Les Farfadets” that would translate to “Elves” at the Theatre des Varietes.

The first part of the program was varied and went from Hip-Hop, Latin Dance, Modern Jazz, Tap dancing, Belly dancing and Flamenco, while the second portion started with a contemporary piece followed by a sublime classical duet, then a neo-classic duet by dancers from the Paris Opera, to culminate in a very creative theatrical dance entitled “Exemplary Crimes” by Bruno Roque with the dancers of the Monte-Carlo Ballet that was highly acclaimed by the public.
