Kick off by Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti

MONACO DREAM TEAM DEFEATED TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS

A total of 12,221 fans filled the Stadium Louis II, including HSH Prince Albert on Saturday, August 3rd, to watch the new Monaco football team face Spurs in the last friendly preparation match before the start of the first league season, that was transmitted live in more than 60 countries.

The Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti who performed at the Red Cross Ball on Friday and is a true football fan, was there for the symbolic kick off. It was Monaco who opened the score at only 14min into the first period with a goal from Italian Andrea Raggi that the Spurs goalkeeper, who is also captain of the French National team, could do nothing to prevent.

Falcao (9), Ocampos (15) and Fabinho (2) celebrating!

On the second period it was the turn to the young Argentine Lucas Ocampos to convert the second goal, followed soon after by another one by the Colombian Falcao, better known as The Tiger.  The Spurs fought hard and scored at 55’ with a goal from the forward Harry Kane, but Falcao offered a double, again helped from a centre from Ocampos who elevated his game in such good company, elevating the score to 4-1 and a few minutes later another goal by the French Obbadi increase the Monegasques’ advantage to 5-1.  The Monegasques were unstoppable!

The winger Townsend saved the honour of Tottenham by marking a second goal decreasing the score difference to finalize the match at 5-2 in favour of the red and whites. Monaco proved that it is not just a collection of stars but a real team that worked together to put a top class show and they are more than ready for their return into first division.  The first Monaco first league game will be away on August 10 against Bordeaux, while the first home match is scheduled for Sunday, August 18 facing Montpellier.
