The Berlin Wall moved into my house today
Two pieces given by a friend
A gesture of hope
She understood what such significant pieces of rubble
Would mean

She was there at the time
Of great rejoicing
And years later had stumbled
On them inadvertently
Lurking quietly
Whilst cleaning a cupboard

And so they rest
Overlooking the sea
Calm and serenely placed on
An old cabin trunk
No doubt with its own
Tale to tell.
