When it comes to eating a healthy Mediterranean diet, blueberres are never too far away from the menu.

What is so special about blueberries?

There is no doubt that these little blue berries taste absolutely devine but they also pack a punch when it goes to keeping you healthy. The powerful anti-oxidants can save you from cancer and many other diseases. In fact they are considered to be one of those 'super' foods that contains the highest amount of anti-oxidants. Blueberries can also help keep a digestive system regular.

Two great reasons to keep you smiling is that blueberries are extremely low in calories and they contain some compounds that have the ability to keep you in a constant good mood and prevent depression, without any medications and side effects. And of course any food that helps to keep you looking and feeling young has to be a must.

For maximum health benefits, eat blueberries fresh and for extra enjoyment, add them to your cereals at breakfast time, in smoothies and yoghurts.

So next time you go shopping make sure you add them to your basket. If you have a garden why not try and grow youur own and when you have a bumper crop, you can freeze them too. Even dried blueberries make a great snack and helps to satisfy that sweet craving, so keep some in the cupboard at home.
