Maillot & his dancers take New York

As part of the 30th anniversary season celebration of the Ballets of Monte-Carlo, Jean-Christophe Maillot and his dancers travelled to the USA, with performances in Costa Mesa, California and the Big Apple, from February 12-20, 2016.

It is the third time that the company takes the stage of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, near LA in California, with the presentation of Chore to standing ovations. Their previous performances had been in 2012 with Cinderella, and again in 2014 with Lac. And for the fifth time  the Ballets of Monte-Carlo put a successful show at the prestigious New York City Center, having been there in 1196, 1999 and 2014. The American public was really enthusiastic and very appreciative of the talent and maestria of our dancers.

The General Consul of Monaco, with the support of the Monaco Embassy in the USA and the Monaco Government Tourist Office in New York, organised a week dedicated to the Principality with a series of events under the headline “Monaco Takes New York”.

A photo exhibition by Alice Blangero, official photographer of the company, was organised in the Lobby Gallery of Christie’s in New York, from February 17-21, 2016, parallel to the representations of Cinderella. The exposition included photos taken during rehearsals, as well as behind the scenes and on stage. Furthermore, The Friends of the Ballets of Monte-Carlo organised a gala also at Christie’s with proceeds benefiting the Company, the Princess Grace Dance Academy and the Monaco Dance Forum.
