Artist Carol Bruton is no stranger to The Riviera Woman. Her work has a huge following and is appreciated by many. Carol was born in Toronto, Canada and studied art at the Bellas Artes de Madrid, the Camden Arts Centre, London and the Edinburgh College of Art. Carol's childhood was spent in Spain, a country she still visits regularly but she lives and works in the South of France.

Carol swims in the sea throughout the year and it is the images that she sees floating on the surface of the water, that provide the inspiration for her recent work. The combination of sky, clouds and the movement of the water create the translucent lozenges of colour. She then uses a number of fine brushes to paint a blend of pigments into the glass effect medium.

Carol will be exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London, in May and the Karma St Martin’s hotel in the Isles of Scilly.

The Ocean’s 9 gold sculpture (below) is created from steel and finished with a transparent coloured coating to create a mirror-like finish. The fluid shape of the piece, along with its gleaming surface, mimics the way morning light shining on the ocean creates a crystal clear reflection of the world.

Daily reflections of rocks seen through the sea. In this piece below Carol wanted to capture the transparency of water.

Our final piece is 'Ripples Nacre' which is also available in orange, turquoise and Blue
