As we enter the month of March we start to see signs that springtime is on the way even though we have been experiencing a bit of a deep freeze with temperatures way below the seasonal norm. So it is time for some positive and warming thoughts because spring really is on the way! The clocks are going forward one hour on Sunday 25th March and the days will be getting much much longer too.
There is another very special day this month and on Thursday 8th March we celebrate International Women's Day. Women today are able to accomplish great things and we must give thanks to the movement that took place over a 100 years ago by some very brave women who campaigned for equal rights. We owe it to them to do even better and never forget why these women felt the cause was so important. Over recent months we have seen the rise of #MeToo and #TimesUp, and I say that together we are stronger, together we can move mountains and together we can shape a future where gender prejudice and discrimination is no more and so this is why I say #WeToo.
Whatever your plans are for 8th March, try and take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are to have so many choices - it wasn't always this way... And as we get older and we all will, no getting out of that one... how would we like to see the role of women to be in the future? We can all make a difference and in very small and simple ways, by supporting fellow women be it at home, in the workplace or on the street. Our future self will be glad we did and when we look back on our lives it would be so great to say #WeToo. Happy International Women's Day!
