The Indians have been using ginger in cooking for many, many years and is known to have both medicinal and health benefits. It can help with colds and flu, and with its anti-inflammatary properties can help with pain and inflammation. Using fresh ginger in tea can be of help when suffering from indigestion and especially heartburn.

What is Ginger?

Ginger is the root of the plant and grows in China, India, Africa, the Caribbean, and other warm climates.

Whenever we feel a cold coming on, or have a sore throat or maybe you have been struck down with flu... This is the perfect opportunity to try something natural to help you and ease your pain. Ginger is already known to be one of the best 'superfoods' and it is so worthy of that title.

We went in search of a good and simple recipe to make a tea to sooth your aches and pains.

Ingredients

1 inch fresh ginger root (no need to peel it)
1 cup water (boiling)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
1 tablespoon honey (raw, unpasteurized)
A few leaves of mint (optional)

If you aregoing to  drink this before going to bed, you could add a shot whiskey - but this is optional.

Grate the ginger and mince it up using the blade of a knife. Put it into a teapot and add one cup of boiling water. Leave for about 3-4 minutes.

Then in your cup add the lemon juice and honey.

Using a filter/strainer pour the ginger water over the lemon and honey and stir well. You may wish to add more lemon or honey according to your taste buds.

Sip slowly and then relax.
