Art and Artists
Featured Artist: Franco Negro
Franco Negro is an artist living and working in Santena, situated about 15 kilometres from Turin, Italy.
He was born in in 1947 and has been painting since a young boy. Painting is his passion. By day and for over 35 years Franco has worked for an engineering company in Turin but returns home to his paint brush. He has held numerous exhibitions in Alba, Arona, Bricherasio, Chieri, Cuneo, Montecatini Terme, Saluzzo, Turin, Venice and has received many regional and national awards for his artwork.
In his studio is where most of his work is born. This is the place where you will find his paints, brushes, canvasses, paintings, but more poignantly, this is where Franco finds his thoughts, feeings and memories. It is the place where he loves to discover himself and where his ideas and projects are realised.
"The canvases hide in the dense coulors images stories, emotions, sufferings, joys ... my life" says Franco. "My studio represents more than the place where I paint, it is a part of me. It is where out of chaos I can express my creativity and create my works."
It was a pleasure to see a selection of Franco's artwork grace the walls of the Castello Montaldo, near Turin.
