Pure Sound of Music

It is June 21st and the first day of Summer. This is the day that France dedicates a whole 24 hours to the sound of music. The Riviera Woman team were out and about to enjoy the ambiance.

Our main destination was Villefranche sur mer, where a long term supporter and contributor, Alain Caruba invited us to see his Jazz trio play in the Place Amelie Pollonais. We arrived in time for the start at 5.30 pm and the pleasure was to see them finale, two hours later. The Caruba Jazz Trio were the pure sound of professionalism. The crowd that gathered were absolutely appreciative of the performance which was free for all to benefit.

Graham had his camera rolling and really captured the atmosphere.

I also had the chance to catch up with Alain who could be seen playing the drums in the film clip. An interview is on the way.

As soon as the drumsticks went down at the end of the set, another set of entertainers began to work their magic on the crowd. There was something definitely in the air, as both Wendy and I did get the chance to 'participate', in a small way, I must add. Left to the imagination...

Villefranche was once again enchanted with the rhythmic sound of 'Latino'.

I thought I would show them how it was done!!

The Riviera Woman team moved on eastbound towards Monaco where the festivals were yet to explode. My destination was to one of my favorite haunts in Menton. Every year the Italian group known as The Joker Band, who offer another genre of music, took our tour of the music scene for the day  to a close.  Having spent 17 years in the music scene, it really was good to see the dedication and passion emanate from all the performers we saw today. Whatever your musical taste 'Let music be the food of life!'

Here goes the Blues band 'The Jokers Blues Band'.
