The 25th, Saturday is a full day to be held in Bar sur Loup.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

was developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre over 25 years ago. It has benefited people suffering from stress, stress-related conditions and chronic pain as well as many others whose needs were less acute but who sought a better understanding of the self and an improved quality of life.

 

The UK’s National Institute for Clinical Excellence (N.I.C.E.) recommends the training as means to significantly reduce the incidence of depressive relapse

We will meet for 2 hours every week to practice mindfulness techniques, study the workings of the mind and share our experiences. We will be sitting, walking, lying down and moving gently. There will be some written exercises and discussion as well as times of silence and meditation

 

To achieve positive results students commit to one lesson per week and 60 minutes of home practice 6 days per week. In this way old destructive habits of reacting to stress can be replaced by new ways of responding with intelligence and we will find that we are better equipped to deal with tension, fear or pain. With mindfulness we can also be more present during pleasant, joyful moments and thus able to make the most of good times that might otherwise be missed.

This course is suitable for adults of any belief system or none.


Participants will receive CDs covering six different practices and an in-depth booklet to facilitate their continued study at home

Alison trained in MBSR in London and with Bangor University, she teaches in the Alps and in southern France. Alison also has a strong foundation in Vipassana meditation upon which MBSR was based.

She is very enthusiastic about the effectiveness of this simple technique, it has cured her recurrent bouts of depression and kept her sane while dealing with breast cancer. Alison is keen to pass on this valuable skill to help others rise above difficulties, cope with life's challenges and enjoy the good times to the full!
