A Really Hat-tastic Evening

A combination of passion and adventure inspired the first Amber Ladies day at the Races, which took place on Monday 9th July 2012.

The vision was to introduce the concept of Ascot but on the Riviera and to encourage and motivate women to come together, in a fun outgoing way. This was the opportunity for women to feel good, to dress up and don a great hat for the evening. And what a way to feel on top of the world!

The event demonstrated the value in collaborating and pooling ideas, abilities and talents. Dani Carew, author of the book 'Redefining Amber' started The Amber Club to encourage women to move forward, embrace change and conquer, and in Dani's words: From Adversity To Triumph. Anna Fill of The Riviera Woman was inspired to help women by promoting them on her online magazine, giving them a platform to motivate and stimulate them to be the very best they can be. The idea of the Ladies Day at the Races came from Anna and her involvement with horse racing whilst doing a stint of presenting the sport during her time with the BBC and as a result of passing by the Hippodrome on a daily basis, she always hoped to create the Ladies Day ambiance here on the Riviera. So together with Dani's drive and 'let's-do' determination, the event was born.

A favourable twist happened during the organisations and planning stages of the Ladies Day, which was named 'The Amber Ladies Day at the Races'. The event coincided with the Hippodrome's 60th Anniversary - the already full programme had an extra special 50s theme which included of a parade of vintage cars and models dressed in beautiful complementing attire.

Before dinner which took place al fresco in the grounds of the Hippodrome, guests listened to talks, starting with Life Coach Nicole Petschek, who awarded one lucky lady, Marie Fiorin with a voucher worth €800 for Nicole's coaching service. Daniele de Winter, beauty products creator who also inspired the' Inside Beauty programme', talked about nutrition and inner wellbeing.

Daniele de Winter went on to judge the hat competition. Both Anna and Dani didn't want this to be a battle of the designers, so guests were required to write what their hat meant and said about them. The winning comment received an invitation to the Daniele de Winter Spa in Cannes.

The winning lady, Mary Coles Merighi wrote:

HATTITUDE

It's the finishing touch but puts you in pole position.
When one wears a hat it changes and adds to whatever you are wearing.
It changes your attitude.
It can change your mood. Like music or good wine and of course champagne.
It's Glamour.
It's Style.
It's Class.
And above all it makes you Beautiful and Feminine.
It makes an occasion.
Gives you confidence and undoubtedly you never go by unnoticed.
A Hat represents a Hit of a lifestyle

The evening continued with a great session with the gee gees during dinner and lots of chit chat and fun in the Riviera sun.

And what a finale - the traditional firework display completed the evening and all guests were given Daniele de Winter goody bags and an Amber Bracelet to remember the special day.

The final note: What happens next? The Amber Ladies Day at the Races prepares for 2013. See you soon!
