Woman Of The Month - Johanna Rossi

Johanna Rossi grew up the in the heart of the Sussex countryside, then during her teenage years she moved a little nearer to the coastal town of Brighton in East Sussex, in England and so benefitting from both the countryside and life in a buzzing seaside town.

She attended Brighton College and completed her GCSEs and A - Levels. Johanna excelled in Artistic studies and further went on to complete an Art Foundation Course at Brighton Technical College. She then studied Interior Arcitecture for 3 years and gained a First Class BAHons degree.

After graduating Johanna worked at The Walt Disney Company in Hammersmith for 18 months designing children's clothing.

Johanna then moved to Monaco 13 years ago to join her husband who was born there. She worked as an editorial assistant for Amedeo Turello, photographer and owner of magazine Style Monte-Carlo for 3 years. She had some great opportunities working on photoshoots with well known celebrities and even HSH Prince Albert!

Together with her husband they opened Restaurant Cosmopolitan in Monaco in November of 2007. They spent a year on the project, gutting the existing restaurant and designing it all themselves.

Johanna had her first child in November 2008, Leandro and then her second Sienna Mae in January 2013.

After chronic health problems and difficulties settling into Monaco Life Johanna embarked on a journey to better her health in 2010... We asked Johanna our famous 5 questions and this is how she replied:

1) What makes you smile?

Living in space restricted Monaco, seeing my children running in open space has to be the number one thing that has made me smille since I became a mother. I love seeing how happy they are and how free they look.

2) What or who inspires you?

There are a lot of people and things that I am inspired by on a daily basis. It's maybe easier to say that I am inspired by people who are confortable with who they are, know what their message is and know their place in the world without having to harm anyone in the process of carrying out their mission. I also have a large library and love to read. Artist's workspaces also inspire me, I have vision boards dedicted to them.

3) Do you believe in gut instincts?

200%! Instinct and intuition should be our guides in life, from making decisions about what we eat, what friends we choose, what job we do and what decisions we make regarding our children. The gut is the second brain. I have a very strong mind/gut relationship and I'm not sure how many people know how important gut health is.

4) Your three essential things if you were stuck on a desert island would be what?

My husband, he is extremely resourceful! / A bottle of Water / Swiss Army Knife

5) If you are planning a day/night out, what do you enjoy doing the most?

I would wake up naturally (hasn't happened in 7 years ;-) ). I would then have a great breakfast, prepare a picnic and then head for a day hiking with my family. Having grown up in the countryside I need to spend time away from Monaco surrounded by Mother Nature to feel recharged and peaceful. The evening would then be spent cooking, eating and reading.
