Beauty and The Breast

The month of October is dedicated to raising awareness to breast cancer. This is to encourage women to regularly check their breasts in order to detect cancer at the earliest stage possible.

The company developing drugs for the treatment of breast cancer, AstraZeneca, founded NBCAM in 1985. Back in October 1983, the first race was held in Texas where 800 participants took part. Today, that figure is now well over a million.

The Pink Ribbon symbol that we know associated with breast cancer awareness, was created by the beauty company Estee Lauder in 1992.

The internet is full of advice and help but in the end, we must take responsibility and constantly check our breasts.

The Riviera Woman supports the Cancer Support Group 06 a local based group helping you to remember that 'You Are Not Alone'. Meetings are: First Wednesday of every month.

Breast Awareness

Touch. Look. Check.

TOUCH your breasts. Can you feel anything unusual?
LOOK for changes. Is there any change in shape and texture?
CHECK anything unusual with your doctor.
