Monegasque Fashion Chamber Launches ModeMC

The Monegasque Fashion Chamber (CMM), created back in 2009, set up quarters during two days in the prestigious Sporting d’Hiver, in the heart of the buzzing Principality. It was one of the last events to take place in the octogenarian condemned Art Deco building, that will be soon dismantled to give way to lavish high-rises. But that’s another story, so let’s go back to the matter on hand, the launching of the first edition of ModeMC, that stands for La Mode de Monte-Carlo, and the second issue of Swimontecarlo (the first took place in September 2013), organized under the patronage of HRH Prince Albert II in partnership with the Principality’s Government, the Town Hall and the Tourist Bureau. Well-known local and international designers paraded their Spring/Summer 2015 collections in front of the press and buyers coming from all over Europe to the delight of the distinguished guests.

For this inaugural event, Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the CMM, and Elizabeth Wessel, General Secretary and also founding member, welcomed prestigious personalities from Monaco and abroad. Among them, HRH Princess Antonella d’Orleans-Bourbon, Marjorie Crovetto-Harroch for the local Town Hall, HE the Itailan Ambassador Antonio Morabito, Count Niccolo Caissotti di Chiusano, Committee President, actor Claudio Lemmi, synchronized swimmer Julia Sardella and the always admired Victoria Silvstedt who launched her own collection Very Victoria Silvstedt by Marie Meili. The fashion professionals were able to meet each other during the exhibition and showroom and admire the collections.

This newly created production was presented in three acts: Swimwear, Young designers and Emerging Brands and Accessories. Miss Bikini Luxe opened the show followed by beachwear brands EV Neo Fashion by Eleonora Vallone (daughter of famous actor Raf Vallone), Beach & Cashmere Monaco, LM Design de Laure Manaudou, Banana Moon, Livia, Veronica Bettini Mood, My Jemma and the much anticipated Very Victoria Silvstedt collection.

The high point of the event was the presentation by young Italian designers Sergei Grinko and Mauro Gasperi who frequent the Milan Fashion Week, in collaboration with the Italian Fashion Chamber (CNMI). The two rising stars chose Monte-Carlo to launch their new creations. Followed by the talented local designers Croky, Leslie Monte-Carlo, Josephine Bonair, Joelle Flora, Elizabeth Wessel, Samantha De Reviziis, Carlo Ramello, Elsie Rose Monaco, Ivarson Monte-Carlo. A collection of accessories by Stardust, Monica Vignolini, Parisian brand Bye Bye and Titta de Olga Holmova were part of this well organized event. The show closed with a parade by the Monegasque Fashion Chamber in a tribute to the Principality’s creativity.

Federica Nardoni Spinetta sounded very enthusiastic when she told us that her team will start soon planning for the 2015 edition of ModeMC, that promises to be even better than the first.

Fashion icon Coco Chanel once said: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
