Celebrating Accomplished Women

On Tuesday, May 7th at 8:00pm at the Sporting d’Hiver in Monte-Carlo another accomplished woman will receive the Woman of the Year 2013 award, an international event celebrating women from every walk of life and from anywhere in the world.

The project was launched in 2012 at the initiative of Italian journalist Cinzia Sgambati-Colman and this second edition will again be sponsored by Alliance Boots, a leading international healthcare and beauty company.  The judging Committee of the Prix Monte-Carlo “Woman of the Year” includes: Stéphane Valeri, Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Monaco; Cinzia Sgambati-Colman, president of the prize committee and director of MonteCarloin; Maria Betti, director of the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES); Marietta Vinci Corsini, antique dealer and administrator of GIE - Point Art Monaco; Smadar Eisenberg, President of AOPMC (Amis de l’Orchestre Philarmonique de Monte-Carlo); Simone Pastor, supporter of the arts; Marzia Lefebvre d’Ovidio, designer; José Giannotti, General Agent and Director of Personal Insurance at Generali Insurance.

The committee has reviewed several applications and the winners will receive the awards during a gala dinner attended by many personalities from the Principality. The awards are a creation of Croatian sculptor Mateo Mornar, who is known for his rendition of the female form that are curvaceous yet solid and strong. The event will also feature an exhibition of a series of paintings by Federico Armando Beltrán Masses, the famous ‘Belle Epoque’ Cuban-born Spanish artist. Whilst Beltrán’s portrait subjects included Kings and Princes, Hollywood stars, and society on both sides of the Atlantic, he was particularly sought out by women who rejected convention.  Cinzia Sgambati-Colman commented: “We know that it is not always easy for women to balance a private, social and professional life every day in a harmonious manner. The prize is a recognition for these women who have succeeded in achieving something really important in the variety of roles they undertake in their lives.”
