Nyctophilia
Jean-Philippe Racca-Vammerisse (JPRV), born in 1987, is an artist who lives and works in Nice, France and in 2012 obtained his degree from the School of Visual Arts of Monaco, Pavillon Bosio (ESAP).
That same year he received a prize from HSH Prince Albert and the Monaco Project for the Arts (MPA) that will allow him to participate in the contemporary art Rauma Biennale Balticum in Finland. The prolific young artist is currently exhibiting in the Galerie 11 Columbia in the Principality from November 13 until December 6, 2013 with the auspices of MPA, under the suggestive name of NYCTOPHILIA, an attraction to darkness or night as you see reflected in his art pieces.
Fata Morgana Series
The rather gruesome dreamlike world he represents of a pessimistic nature, seem to come from his deepest unconscious desires through design, painting and ceramic as well as installations, a polymorphic plastic work illustrating certain human traits like insolence and harshness or the incongruity of existence. He descends into the depth of darkness to find answers and possibly and hopefully the light.
Thanks to the projects developed by ESAP in collaboration with its partners, JP Racca-Vammerisse created a series of costumes and accessories for the Ball of Dreams, a performance show presented during the Unexpected (Imprevus) at the ateliers of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo in May 2012. The school enabled him to join the nework of the European Ceramic Art & Research Team (ECART) and to participate in their collective exhibitions in Brussels in December 2010 and in Monaco in February of 2013. In July 2010 he founded together with Anouk Arra the Group 50/50 and participated as an artist in the Ceramic Salon of Contemporary Art, Ceramique 14, in Paris in October 2012.
Rita Rovelli Caltagirone with Henri Doria (Office of the Mayor of Monaco) and JP Racca Vanmerisse
The Monaco Project for the Arts (MPA) is a non-for profit association under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, created in 2008 by Rita Rovelli Caltagirone with the support of Georges Marsan, Mayor of the Principality, and Isabelle Lombardot, Director the Arts School (ESAP). Their goal is to support young creators in their pursuit of a post-degree by offering two annual scholarships and assist them in exhibiting their work.
Nyctophilia is open to the public from November 13 through December 6 from Monday through Friday from 14:00 to 19:00
